Join us August 4th at Turley Park!

WDBX DJs Bongo Ali, Countryman, and Ras Matty will be spinning reggae and dancehall tunes at Turley Park this Thursday, August 4th from 7-9pm. Come check out the music, the positive vibe, and meet some of your favorite DJs. Bring along a lawnchair, but remember to leave your alcohol at home. This is an all ages event, and completely free.

Just kidding!

For anyone who was concerned, the Laura Ingraham Show isn’t really joining WDBX’s lineup– so you can file yesterday’s announcement under “hijinks” and become a member with a clear conscience. Happy April Fools’ Day, everyone!

New features at The Blogapus

Everyone here at The Blogapus hopes you enjoy our new look! We’ve got a few interesting new features, too. Above these entries, in the header, you’ll see links to our current schedule and the Volunteer Spotlight. We’ve kicked it off with a short interview with  “The Galaxy” host and long-time volunteer Doug Flummer. You’ll also notice two links to WDBX’s webstream. There’s one in the header, and one in the right sidebar.

If you ever feel a little lost, just click The Blogapus herself– you’ll be whisked back to the main page with all eight arms!

Update: New features are coming so fast today! Check out the “Contact WDBX” form, up in the header. It’s a pretty swanky way to get in touch with us. Give it a shot, we’d love to hear from you!

One seriously cool DJ!

Nothing fazes this guy, not even a fire in the booth!

I’m just guessing, but I’d translate the video as something like: “It’s our 2010 Fall Membership Drive! We’re awfully close to reaching our $12,000 goal now, so please call and make your pledge right away. Memberships start at $10– the stickers seem to have been claimed in a bush fire that has broken out behind me, but if you’d like a lump of charred plastic that used to be a coffee mug, you can claim it for just $50!”

Welcome to The Blogapus!

Thanks for joining us here at The Blogapus, the inkorporated voice of WDBX-FM! This station-wide blog is so new that we’re still getting everyone hooked up, and figuring out how to use it.

We’re going to start by giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what we do, including everything from liveblogged playlists and music reviews, to volunteers’ stories and news about upcoming in-studio guests. If you’ve got a favorite DJ, let them know you’d like to see them writing on The Blogapus!

The Blogapus is as much yours as it is ours– we can’t have a good conversation without you! Be sure to let us know about your questions, new bands, requests, or show suggestions in the comments section.

Just like your favorite community radio station, The Blogapus will have a little bit of everything, so be sure to check back every day to see what’s up!
